Day 13

BEFORE

AFTER W/VIGNETTE
AFTER NO VIGNETTE

This before and after is going to be really good for me! I dont have actions, and I tend to lean more towards the overprocessed look *only* because I like the way the eye color stands out. All I do is crop, bump the contrast up, level and curve and sometimes hue saturation. I would love any and all CC, good bad or ugly, I really want to know what you think and how I could do this better if you think they are overdone.

Oh, I love the second one with the vignette. Great effect!

I really like the third one! I love the soft colors in it. Have you ever worked with layer masks? If you like the eyes brighter, you can just mask them back in onto a normally-processed image. It's a very cool look though...I need to venture to the side of being more creative!

I like the high contrast...the eyes really do stick out. I don't use actions that much either...I know how you feel.

I think Kristi has the right ideas...with the layer masks. That is how I do most of my eye work.

Love the effect on the second one!

My vote is for the 3rd! So beautiful! OF course I'm a sucker for the closeups!

I like #2 - I don't have actions yet so all I do is on my own and I don't know really what I'm doing...you did a great job.

WOW! I love it and with the vignette on it. Great job. TOni

I like the one w/o vignette best. I think it is a personal preference. She is so beautiful you really can't go wrong.

I love them, I like the affect that it gives the picture. I tend to go for the over processed look as well.

i suggest using layer masks as well--that way the skin doesn't get blown out with the high contrast, but you can still make the eyes pop. HTH!

I like the second one with the vignette. I agree with what Kristi mentioned about using layer masks to mask the skin back in.... of course, it's all a matter of personal preference when it comes to processing.

i think what you have done is very cool. her eyes are amazing. i would like to see this processed so that her skin isn't blown. she's so sweet i think a softer touch would really work here.

I really like the second with the vignette. I like the way her eyes and lips really pop.

nice job like the look of the second one!

They are a tad bright on my screen but I love #2! The vignette really adds to this photo imo.

I see what you mean about the eyes standing out, but you lose so much of the rest of her face. I wonder if you could do several layers and get the best of both worlds? It's a cute picture and could really be dynamic!

I like the 3rd one the best. (What a cutie!) I worry that it's my laptop, but the second seems like it loses some detail in the brightness. I'd really try for the third one, and use a layer mask to brighten the eyes. . . or maybe even the dodge tool over the eyes, (with low opacity.) But take this all with a grain of salt, because I don't even know what "vignette" means, and I'm going to go google it now!

I think you're right, they are overdone. I would tone down the brightness on the face just a tad.
Layer masks are a good idea.
Nice portrait to work with!

I really like the effects, but I also like the original. I think it just depends what kind of mood you're in.

I like the third one better. The second seems a little overprocessed to me.
Beautiful eyes!

For me...it's a tad overprocessed, but that's the beauty of phtoography...it's subjective. Here eyes definitely stand out.

The eyes are amazing and stand out even more in #2. They are a bit over processed for my taste and I would love to see a version with the eyes done in a mask and a lighter touch on the skin. Beautiful photo though with such great catchlights and awesome eye contact!

I like the contrast too! Like #2!

I like #2 best, I like over processed too, but I do agree that you have lost a bit too much detail in her face. Sounds like the layer mask is the way to go. i would like to try that too.
